The Ultimate List of Dog Friendly Places in Florida

For Labor Day weekend this year, we decided to take a roadtrip to The Sunshine State!

It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Florida, and this was the first time going with both dogs. It was a 13 hour drive from New Jersey to Jacksonville, where we rented an Airbnb for a few days.

While we were there, I realized how many more dog friendly places there are in Florida compared to where we live! There are dozens of different parks, trails, beaches, and restaurants that all welcome your four legged friends.

So instead of getting overwhelmed when looking for things to do with your dog, I’ve made you the ultimate list of dog friendly places in Florida!

Special Adventures

dog friendly places in florida dinosaur world

Dinosaur World

If you’re looking for a fun day trip with your dog and the kids, you can check out Dinosaur World in Plant City, FL.

This park has over 150 different life size dinosaur statues that really take you back in time.

Dogs are allowed in the park as long as they’re leashed.

Some dogs believe the statues are real, so make sure to take tons of pics and videos of your pups reaction to these giant lifelike creatures.

Treasure Coast Cruises

Do you like boat cruises?

If so, then you have to check out the dog friendly Treasure Coast Cruises in Vero Beach, FL.

Grab your dog, some snacks, and a bottle of wine for your sunset sightseeing trip along the Indian River.

Each tour is private and lasts around 1 ½ hours.

I know I’ll be doing this with Cali the next time we’re in Florida!

dog friendly places in florida lazy dog adventures

Lazy Dog Adventures

Does your dog love the water?

If the answer is yes, then you have to spend a day at Lazy Dog Adventures in Key West, FL.

This place is all about being on the water with your dog, whether it’s a kayak, paddleboard, or a boat adventure!

Show your water lover the best day of their life with the new experience of exploring Florida’s clear waters.

Dog Bar

One of the best trends that developed in the past few years are dog friendly bars.

Dog Bar, in St. Pete’s FL, is quite literally a dog park with a bar inside!

This 4500 ft space allows dogs to run off leash while their owners sip a beer at the bar.

Each dog requires a Dog Bar Membership to ensure safety for the other dogs.

In addition, a “wooferee” is assigned to watch the dogs during peak hours to make sure no trouble is made!

dog friendly places in florida best friends pet care

Best Friends Pet Care

Planning a trip to Disney?

Don’t leave your dog at home with a pet sitter, take them to the Best Friends Pet Care Center in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

This luxury pet hotel offers comfortable boarding facilities, along with professional grooming, vet, and training services.

Additionally, your dogs can play with their new four legged friends at doggy day camp, where they can play in sprinklers and run through obstacle courses.

You can even see their live camera feed from their website so you can check on your fur baby whenever you want!

Kanine Social

The last special adventure of dog friendly places in Florida is Kanine Social in Jacksonville FL.

This enormous 4000 sqft indoor dog park features a craft beer and coffee bar so you can sit back and relax as your dog plays.

The air conditioning pumps all summer long, making this one of the best places to take your dog on a hot day.

In addition to the 7000 sqft inside, there is also another 10,000sqft of playspace outside for the dogs as well!

Of course, there are separate sections for smaller dogs, and each dog must pass an aggression test before gaining membership.

dog friendly places in florida nature trails

Nature Trails

If you follow Cali and Archie on Instagram, you’ll know they’re a major fan of the outdoors.

Since we live in New Jersey, we usually do hiking trails in Upstate New York.

However, Florida also has beautiful nature trails for every walk of life.

All of the trails below are dog friendly. Just make sure your dog is leashed at all times!

There are a lot of different animals that live in the Florida woods, so you want to make sure your dog doesn’t run off.

If you currently live in Florida, this alone is a great bucket list to do with your dog!

For dog moms of the Sunshine State, beaches are some of the best dog friendly places in Florida.

Many of these beaches still request that every dog is on a 6 ft leash for the safety of everyone, but you and your dog can still dig in the sand and swim in the ocean!

dog friendly places in florida restaurants

Restaurants & Bars

Another major difference that I see in Florida is there is an overwhelming amount of dog friendly restaurants.

The majority of these restaurants only allow outdoor seating if you have your dog.

But with all these new social distancing measures, who wants to eat inside anyway?
