For dogs who are lactose intolerant, you can substitute yogurt with coconut milk.

After a few batches, you’ll have a better idea of what your dog likes and will be able to tweak your recipe to your dog’s enjoyment.

Peanut Butter Banana Ice Cream

Starting off with the most popular dog ice cream recipe, the peanut butter banana ice cream is a hit in most doggy households.

Of course, always make sure that when using peanut butter for dogs that it does not contain Xylitol, which is an increasingly common sugar replacement in jarred peanut butter. 

Prep Time: 5 Mins

Freeze Time: 4 Hours

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas
  • 4 Tbsp of peanut butter
  • 4tbsp of plain yogurt 

Instructions:

  1. Chop up the bananas into small pieces
  2. Blend in peanut butter and yogurt with chopped bananas
  3. Pour into silicone molds or cupcake pans with cupcake paper and freeze for at least 4 hours.

Fruity Dog Ice Cream

The 2nd type of homemade dog ice cream recipes is fruity ice cream!

Dogs love the natural sweet taste of fruit, and there are so many ways to make this simple recipe! Before making, always double check that the fruit is non toxic for dogs. (Fruits like grapes or pits from cherries are toxic for dogs and should not be ingested by them.)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of fruit of choice (watermelon, raspberries, blueberries, melon, etc)
  • 2 Tbsp of plain yogurt 

Instructions:

  1. Blend in fruit and yogurt together with blender/food processor 
  2. Pour into silicone molds or cupcake pans with cupcake paper and freeze for at least 4 hours.

Cinnamon Pumpkin Ice Cream 

This last dog ice cream recipe is one of my personal favorites.

My pitbull Archie loves these treats and his eyes get super wide whenever he sees he’s about to get one.

This is the perfect end-of-the-summer ice cream recipe, right before the leaves begin to change.

Nothing will put you in the fall mood like a pumpkin spiced puppy!

Prep Time: 5 Mins

Freeze Time: 4 Hours

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup of plain yogurt 
  • dash of cinnamon
  • splash of maple syrup

Instructions:

  1. Mix pumpkin puree, yogurt, cinnamon, and maple syrup into your food processor
  2. Pour into silicone molds or cupcake pans with cupcake paper and freeze for at least 4 hours
  3. If you don’t want a solid block, you can stick the frozen block back into the food processor and scoop the ice cream into your dog’s bowl.
